
Late goal gives Detroit the 8-6 loss in Philadelphia

(Southfield, Mich., January 20, 2007) - The Detroit Ignition (10-7) fell to the Philadelphia KiXX (9-4), 8-6 in front of 6,840 at the Wachovia Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday. The game-winning two-point goal was scored by Philadelphia's Edgar Bartolomeu with just 11 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Detroit's next home game will take place on Sunday, January 28 at Compuware Sports Arena against the KiXX. Game-time is slated for 4:35 pm ET.
Playing in the first game of his Major Indoor Soccer League career, forward Mauricio Salles put the Ignition on the board first with a two-point goal at 11:06, giving Detroit the 2-0 lead at the end first quarter.
The KiXX responded early with the only goal of the second quarter, a two-pointer, from Don D'Ambra at 0:52 to tie the contest at 2-2 at the end of the first half.
Ignition captain Novi Marjoevic put the first year club up 4-2 with a two-point goal at the 10:33 mark of the third quarter of play. The KiXX responded quickly with a two-point goal from Dino Delevski at 12:28 to tie the game at 4-4. Philadelphia's momentum continued as Pat Morris put one past Ignition goalkeeper Sanaldo at 13:13 to give the KiXX their first lead of the night, a 6-4 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
MISL leading scorer Jamar Beasley tied the game 6-6 with a two-point power play goal for the Ignition at 6:34 of the fourth quarter. Edgar Bartolomeu put a two-pointer into the back of the net late at 14:49 to give the KiXX the 8-6 victory in regulation.
