Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
SPRINGDALE, AR - On the eve of the 77th Annual Texas League All-Star Game, presented by Castrol and airing nationwide on Time Warner Cable Sports, League President Tom Kayser announced several changes affecting both the North and South Division rosters before the All-Stars touch down in Springdale this afternoon.
Roman Hernandez had two hits in the Naturals series finale in Tulsa Sunday afternoon, and that's not all the good news for the Naturals Outfielder. Shortly after the Naturals extra-innings loss to the Drillers, League President Tom Kayser announced that Hernandez would be filling the roster spot on the North Division All-Stars vacated by Drillers Outfielder Kyle Parker. Parker was injured in the extra-inning contest.
Hernandez is batting .303 in his last ten games, and .267 on the year with a home run, ten doubles and twelve RBI. The Kansas City Royals signed the 25-year-old Cuban-born Hernandez last season, and assigned him to A-Wilmington where he played 74 games for the Blue Rocks as a Corner Outfielder.
Parker hit his 12th home run of the season yesterday in the first inning off Naturals RHP Sugar Marimon. The Rockies First Round Draft Pick out of Clemson in the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft is hitting .271 with seven doubles and 26 RBI in 61 games this season. Entering the season, the 23-year-old was the number-three ranked prospect in the Rockies Organization according to Baseball America.
In addition to Hernandez, pitchers Michael Cisco, Heath Wyatt and outfielder D'Arby Myers were added to the All-Star rosters. Cicso replaces Arkansas Travelers teammate Lay Batista, while Wyatt replaces Springfield Cardinals teammate Deryk Hooker. Myers replaces Corpus Christi outfielder Domingo Santana.
