Richmond Raiders News Release

RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond Raiders (1-3) dropped a close game to the Columbus Lions (3-0) Saturday at the Coliseum. Columbus scored the game-winning touchdown with just nine seconds left, putting the game out of reach for the Raiders. History seemed to repeat itself for the Raiders as the results were eerily similar to the two teams' first matchup in week two which had the Lions winning 52-50 after two late scores.

The two teams were evenly matched throughout the game as neither team led by more than five at any point. In the first quarter, K T.C. Stevens started off the scoring for both teams, hitting a 26-yard field goal to put the Raiders up 3-0. Columbus would answer with a touchdown and two-point conversion four minutes later, and from there, the scoring trade began. Late in the fourth quarter after a Ron Davis touchdown, it looked like the Raiders had secured the victory. As fate would have it, a win was not in the cards for Richmond as Lions WR Terrance Ebagua found the endzone for a touchdown with just nine seconds left in the game.

QB Jon Bane led the Raiders offense, completing 24 of 46 passes for 261 yards and five touchdowns. Bane found WR Ron Davis three times and WR Scooby Bryant two times in the endzone for touchdowns. K T.C. Stevens had a stellar performance hitting field goals of 26, 25 and 40 yards consecutively. Bryant led the Raiders receiving corp, hauling in 13 catches for 170 yards. DB Malik Cromartie led the defensive effort for the team, recording seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle.

For Columbus, second-week starter QB Casey Kacz led the offense, throwing for 301 yards and seven touchdowns. Kacz connected with WR Jarmon Fortson (3), WR Daniel Adler (1) and WR Terrance Ebagua (3) for scores. Ebagua notched nine catches for 143 yards on the night. Defensively, DB Roshawn Marshall made six solo and one assisted tackle.

The Raiders are next in action on April 17 as they take on the Trenton Freedom for Health and Wellness Night sponsored by Bon Secours. Special ticket values include a buy two, get one free package. Tickets are available by calling 804-780-0430 or visiting richmondraidersprofootball.com.
