Huntsville Stars News Release
Stars fans, tonight will be our final fireworks show of the 2008 season. Gates open at 6:00 pm for a 7:05 pm start against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
For subscribers of this e-newsletter, we have a special merchandise sale tomorrow, Saturday, August 16th, from noon until 2:00 pm. Subscribers will receive 20% off their total purchase but must present this email at the time of purchase. This sale will not be advertised anywhere else, in- or outside the stadium; it is strictly for our hard-core, most loyal fans. Everything in the store with the exception of game-used bats will be discounted 20% for your readers. Print this email right now because you'll read on and forget to do it and then you'll miss out on this private sale.
A big thank you to everybody who donated to towards our MDA fundraiser. Our goal was set by the MDA at $2,600. As of this morning we're at $2,935 and we'll still be collecting until August 27th, the day that we'll bust out our Get Out Of Jail Free card at the MDA fundraiser. For those that haven't donated and still want to get in on the action, here's what donors are in for: -every donor will receive tickets to the August 27th game -every donor will receive one (1) raffle ticket for every dollar donated for a special pre-game drawing -in the drawing one lucky donor will receive a four-pack of 2009 Huntsville Stars season tickets, a $1,580 value!
We're not looking to bankrupt anybody, we're simply trying to help the North Alabama MDA by asking Stars fans to grab the spare change on their dressers or what's in their change jars on their desks and donate it to the MDA. If everybody reading this would donate just $5 and blow off just one of those vindi-verde-frappacinno-latte-with-skim-milk-and-caramel-and-cinnamon-sprinkled-pixie-dust-Fritalian-iced-coffees from 'Buckstars House of Java Junkies' this week we could help cover the cost of some braces or wheelchairs for some local Muscular Dystrophy victims. That's it, just give up one of those goofball drinks that you can't pronounce and get a chance to win a great prize. (Subliminal Man says drink Diet Mountain Dew). I'm not the kind of guy who's going to bust anybody out if you don't donate, that'd be as wrong as the Cubs making it to the World Seriousness this fall, but when you blow off this fundraiser and are slurping a Fritalian drink this week, you'll think about this email and the guilt will be there, trust me. In all seriousness, I look at my kids every day and thank the Good Lord that they don't face this horrible disease and for a couple bucks we can do our part to help those local victims that do. For a couple bucks you're helping a great cause and somebody's going to win a fantastic prize. Sure, I'll admit it, it's a bribe to talk you into donating as we come down the home stretch to the 27th. For you collectors out there I'll even make it more interesting...I have a friend who sent me an Orlando Magic prize pack - which includes an autographed basketball - that I'm willing to add as a 2nd place prize just to help push this fundraiser over the top. Those that live out of state and wish to forego the grand prize with season tickets can choose an alternate prize that includes a game worn jersey. For complete information log onto our MDA website at (click on the link or cut and paste into your browser if the link doesn't direct you to the site): https://www.joinmda.org/MyLockup/MyHomepage/tabid/14309/Participant/buck/Default.aspx and click on the CLICK HERE/HELP MAKE MY GOAL button on top of the page.
I'd like to thank the following people for already donating to help this cause: Aimee Burnham, Allen Anderson, Allison & Steve Tofflemire, Ari Skalet (VA), Babs Rogers, Bob Ratagick, Bonnie Leyko (FL), Bradley Miller, Breann Rogers (MS), Brian & Karen Allen, Brian Barnes (FL), Brian Burnham, Brian Lorge, Brian Massey, Carson Rogers (TX), Chuck & Emo Murphy (FL), Clip Coates, Denise & Lou Palmisano (FL), Dennis Fortier (FL), Earl & Sharon Grilliot, Eddie Fisher (NY), Gary Wheeler (MA), Greg Patterson, Hal Myers (OH), Howard & Roslyn Siegel (NY), Jana Killebrew, Jane Goddard (FL), Jean & George Silver (FL), Jeff Rogers (TX), Jim Rufino (FL), Jim Slattery (FL), John & Linda Powell, John Skilton (MD), Johnny & Heather Raburn (FL), JR Rinaldi (TN), Julie Gahl (WI), Kirk Kaye (FL), Knology Advertising, Kylee Hanish, Larry & Pat Veeder, Matt Price, Mellissa Meeks, Michael Swope (AZ), Mike & Susan Edwards (FL), Mike Johannes, Mike Keylon (MI), Pat & Ed Drosten (FL), Patty Siefert, Paul Crumlish (VA), Ray Fraley Jr (TN), Rich Rodriguez, Roger Hoffman, Steve & Lisa Foley, Steve DeSalvo, Susan Gailes, Tom & Gere Van Haag (WI), Van & Debbie McNeese (TX) and Wil Elrick.
Somebody in that list of names above is going to enjoy a season of free baseball next year! I hope it's a staff member because that'd be ironic and they'd end up giving the prize away anyway. Somebody else is going to win a O-Magic prize pack. Get your name on the list! All donations are tax deductible and you will receive an email or hand-written receipt, whichever you choose.
Congratulations to former Huntsville Stars outfielder Matt LaPorta for jacking a three-run shot in the Olympics yesterday to save the game for the USA.
See...you already forgot about tomorrow's special e-newsletter subscriber's sale at the Team Store. Admit it, you spaced off...now print this email and bring it with you tomorrow (Saturday), noon to 2:00 pm and take advantage of a special one-day, two hour sale just for you. All other fans pay full price, subscribers get the savings.
Have a good day, everybody and we'll see you for Stars baseball and fireworks tonight at The Joe.
Rock On!
