Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release
EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley F.C (7-10-3) hosted Las Vegas Lights (8-7-4) at H-E-B Park on Sunday evening. Las Vegas rode a stunning first half goal by Bjorshol to lock in the 0-1 road win.
Las Vegas struck at the 26th minute as Morten Bjorshol sent a power shot from long distance to the top right of the goal, 0-1.
Juan David Cabezas sent a hard shot header toward goal but was rejected by woodwork as the ball bounced off the right bar, ending the chance at goal for RGV at the 34th minute, 0-1.
RGV FC ended the opening half with seven tries at goal, two of which landed on target. Pace control was kept well as they managed to keep the ball for 55% of the time but were caught off guard on that lone goal instance at the 26th minute.
The second half was testing for the Toros offensively, but they were unable to find the net despite shooting a season high 20 times in the second half, placing five on target. Las Vegas secured their one goal lead to stun the Toros at home in the 0-1 victory in Edinburg behind just three shots, the lone shot on target being the first half net breaker.
RGV FC hits the road for a quick trip to California for a meeting with San Diego Loyal SC on Saturday, July 23 at 9:00pm CST. To see more matchday information, visit www.rgvfc.com.
