Las Vegas Gladiators News Release

(Las Vegas, NV) - The Las Vegas Gladiators (5-6) went down early as the Nashville Kats (7-4) dominated the first half, outscoring Las Vegas 29-7 in route to a 58-44 victory at the Thomas and Mack Center. The Gladiators rallied late scoring 28 fourth quarter points but the damage had already been done. The loss drops the Gladiators from first-place tie with the Arizona Rattlers to a second-place tie with the San Jose Sabercats.

The key to the game for Nashville was constant pressure on Gladiator quarterback Jason Fife, as he completed only 19 of 38 pass attempts for 256 yards and six touchdown passes. The Kats dominated defensively as they denied Las Vegas on four of five fourth down conversion attempts and stopped them on six of nine third down conversion attempts.

Despite the strong defensive force put forth by Nashville, Fife managed to remain the Gladiators leading rusher for the fourth time this season with five carries for a total of 23 yards. Marcus Nash continued his stellar production with a team-high seven receptions for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns. Junior Lord also contributed 2 touchdowns of his own as he grabbed 4 passes for 69 yards.

The Kats got it done on the ground and in the air as former Gladiator FB/LB Frank Carter led the team with seven carries for 33 yards and two touchdowns. Offensive specialist Alonzo Nix caught five passes for 96 yards and one touchdown. In his return from a broken leg Nashville quarterback Clint Stoerner was stellar, completing 11 of 20 passes for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Las Vegas Gladiators go on the road Friday, April 14th to take on division rival San Jose Sabercats with kickoff set for 7:30pm (pacific). The Gladiators next and final home game will be Saturday, April 29th as they take on the Utah Blaze with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 pm (pacific).
