(Kansas City, MO.) - It's been a struggle all season long for the Los Angeles Avengers but they may have hit rock bottom Sunday. The Avengers fell behind early and could never catch up as they fell to the expansion Kansas City Brigade 62-45 at Kemper Arena in Kansas City.

It was only the second win of the year for the Brigade against nine losses. For the Avengers it was their third straight loss as they dropped to 3-8 in what is becoming a very long season.

Brigade quarterback Chris Sanders completed 26 of 32 passes for 265 yards and seven touchdowns. He was in sync with receiver Aaron Boone all day. Boone had 13 receptions for 157 yards and five scores.

Sanders fired touchdown passes to Boone and Jerel Meyers in the first period as KC took a 20-7 advantage. Both tosses covered seven yards.

Los Angeles Avengers Sonny Cumbie hit Kevin Ingram on a six yard score late in the second quarter to get LA within 34-28 at halftime. Cumbie then hooked up with Greg Hopkins for a two yard TD strike early in the third and the Avengers grabbed their first lead of the day at 35-34. But after that the highlights were few and far between.

The Brigade outscored LA 28-10 the rest of the way to send the Avengers down to defeat.

Sanders connected with Boone twice in the fourth quarter for touchdowns. One was from four yards out and the other was a quick one yard bullet.

The Avengers offense fumbled the ball away once, twice was stopped on downs and also had to settle for a field goal in the first half. The Brigade took advantage of the missed opportunities while racking up 62 points.

The Avengers are on the road for one more week as they travel to Utah Saturday to take on the Blaze. They will return home April 22 to face New York.
