
Las Vegas Gladiators to wrap up 2004 training camp

Las Vegas, NV, January 26, 2004 â The Las Vegas Gladiators are entering their final week of training camp as they prepare for their season opener in Colorado on February 6 against the Crush. While players battle to make the final roster of 24, third-year head coach Frank Haege and his staff will be extra busy finalizing who will help lead them to ArenaBowl XVIII.
Camp began with a three-day mini-camp on Tuesday, January 13, for quarterbacks, wide receivers, defense backs and centers. Offensive/defensive lineman and fullback/linebackers reported for training camp on Saturday, January 17, with the first full-squad workout took place on January 18.
Entering training camp, the Gladiators were permitted by the AFL to bring in 37 players. The roster will be reduced to 24 by Friday, January 30, 2004.

Coaching Staff: Head Coach Frank Haege is in his third season (17-13, 0-2 playoffs) as head coach. Haege led the Gladiators to the Eastern Division title in his first season and to a playoff birth last year. Ron James (Assistant Head Coach/OL/DL/Special Teams), Stan Davis (Defensive Coordinator) and Jody Marshall (FB/LB) round out the Gladiators' coaching staff.

On the strength of its Mission Statement and Fans' Bill of Rights, the AFL is America's fastest growing sport. The Austin Wranglers joins the Philadelphia Soul and New Orleans VooDoo as the three expansion teams added for the 2004 season. At least two more teams will be added in each of the next two seasons. A network-TV sport, the AFL will celebrate its second season on NBC in 2004.
