Tucson Sidewinders News Release

Las Vegas erased a 3-2 deficit by scoring seven unanswered runs Saturday on the way to a 9-3 win over Tucson at Cashman Field. The win snapped a streak of five straight Sidewinders victories over the 51's.

Tucson had won 15 of 20 and 6 of its last seven before the defeat. The loss also kept the Sidewinders from reaching the .500 mark for the first time since they were 6-6.

Chad Tracy hammered a solo home run in the top of the sixth to put Tucson back in front 3-2. The homer was Tracy's sixth and the first for the Sidewinders since Chad homered last Friday in Oklahoma.

However Las Vegas responded with a four-run sixth inning. Dennys Reyes walked Nick Theodorou with the bases loaded to force in the go-ahead run. Chin Feng Chen followed with a two-run pinch hit single to push the Vegas lead to 6-3

In the seventh a fly ball dropped between Mike Bell and Doug DeVore with two outs when the two each expected the other to catch it. Chad Hermanson was credited with a double. Instead of being out of the inning, Vegas strung together four more consecutive hits to plate three more runs and push the lead to 9-3.

Shea Hillenbrand finsihed 0-1 on his rehab. He was pulled out of the game in the second inning when Tony Womack was injured in the Diamondbacks game.

The Sidewinders dropped to 39-41. Tucson and Las Vegas will meet again Sunday afternoon in a 12:30 p.m. contest to complete the series. Temperatures are expected to reach 110 degrees. Chris Capuano (5-0 3.04) will start for the Sidewinders against Scott Winchester (2-7 6.00).
