
Capuano Flirts with No-Hitter, Winders Win in Vegas

Chin Feng Chen's two-out single in the bottom of the seventh broke up Chris Capuano's no hit bid Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas. Bret Prinz and Brian Bruney each threw a hitless inning to combine on a one-hitter as Tucson finished off the 51's 4-0. Capuano improved to 6-0 giving up just the one single while walking one batter and striking out eight.
The Sidewinders claimed three of four games in the series to again move within one game of .500.
Tucson scored a quick run off Las Vegas starter Scott Winchester. Danny Ramirez doubled on the first pitch of the game and came around to score on a Chad Tracy groundout.
Doug Devore blasted a two-run homer in the fourth to push the lead to 3-0. Brian Gordon added a run scoring triple in the ninth for the final 4-0 margin..
The Sidewinders dropped to 39-41. Tucson returns home Monday for a four-game series against division leader Sacramento. Paul Abbott (1-3 6.10) will start for the Sidewinders in the 7:00 p.m. game.
