Larry Bigbie, Former Frederick Key and Current Baltimore Oriole, to Rehab with Frederick

The Frederick Keys and the Baltimore Orioles announced today that former Frederick Key and current Oriole left fielder, Larry Bigbie, will take part in a rehab assignment on Monday and Tuesday night with the Keys. Bigbie was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Orioles on August 18, 2004, due to a groin injury.

The Orioles 1st round selection (21st overall) in the 1999 First Year Player Draft played with the Keys in 2000 where he batted .294 with two home runs and 28 RBI in 55 games. Bigbie played in Class AA Bowie for parts of the 2000 and 2001 season and split time in the 2001 and 2002 seasons with former Orioles Class AAA Rochester and the Baltimore Orioles. In 2003, Bigbie split time between the Class AAA Ottawa Lynx and the Baltimore Orioles. Bigbie was a career .295 batter in the minor leagues and totaled 18 home runs and 155 RBI through the 2003 season.

This year, Bigbie has split time between Class AAA Ottawa and the Baltimore Orioles. Bigbie has played in 30 games with Ottawa this season and is batting .350 with three home runs and 21 RBI.

With the Orioles in 2004, Bigbie was hitting .268 with 13 home runs and 52 RBI before being placed on the disabled list.
