Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks went 3-0-0 this past week. Laredo shutout Lubbock 4-0 on Friday at the LEC. On Saturday the Bucks beat Lubbock 5-4 in overtime on the road then Sunday they capped off the weekend with a 3-1 win at Amarillo. Laredo is a Southern Conference best 31-13-5 with 67 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by seven points with two games in hand in the Southeast Division race. Laredo returns home against Amarillo on Thursday at the LEC. Face off is set for 7 p.m. The Bucks will give away a pair of tickets to the sold out Mana concert. Everyone in attendance on Thursday will have a chance to win the pair of tickets. The Bucks are offering season tickets starting at less than $79. For more info call (956)-718-BUCK (2825).
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS
- On Thursday the Bucks will host the Amarillo Gorillas. Laredo will wear special President's Day jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game. In addition it is Reliant Energy Night and the first 2,500 fans will get noise clappers.
- On Thursday the Bucks will give away a pair of tickets to the sold out Mana concert. Fans in attendance will have a chance to win that pair of tickets.
- On Sunday the Bucks host the Austin Ice Bats at 4 p.m. at the LEC. The Bucks will give away a pair of tickets to the RBD concert. Fans in attendance will have a chance to win that pair of tickets.
- The Laredo Bucks and Whataburger are partnering to bring back the $5 ticket for home games on Thursday and Sunday. Fans can purchase a voucher at the LEC Whataburger and can redeem the voucher at the LEC Box Office for an upper bowl ticket to Bucks games on Thursday and Sunday. The vouchers can also be upgraded to another seat level. Vouchers are only available at the LEC Whataburger.
- The Bucks and Applebee Learning Center will host a Hockey 101 Class on Wednesday, February 28th; at the LEC from 7-9 p.m. Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski, along with selected Bucks players, will be giving instruction on the basic rules of hockey, the equipment used and some of the strategy put in place during the games. Light food and drinks will be provided at the event. Class participants will receive a Hockey 101 t-shirt and will be eligible to win great prizes. In addition fans will learn about hockey statistics, ice preparation, get a behind the scenes tour and much more. Cost of the class is $20 for Bucks season ticket holders and $35 for non-season ticket holders. The fee for the class includes a Terraza level ticket to the Bucks game on Friday, March 2nd, against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. 2006-07 REGULAR SEASON: This is the second and final meeting of the season. Laredo beat the Gorillas 3-1 on 02/18 at AMA. It was the Bucks first ever regular season win at Amarillo.
2005-06: REGULAR SEASON: The Bucks were 1-1-1 against the Gorillas, going 1-0-0 at the LEC and 0-1-1 in Amarillo.
All-time: Laredo is 6-5-2 against the Gorillas, including 5-0-1 at home in the regular season. The teams have met in the Southern Conference Finals twice. The Bucks beat Amarillo 4-2 in 2004 and 4-0 in 2005.
- CORPUS CHRISTI RAYZ -
2006-07 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo is 5-3-1 against the Rayz in 2006-07. The Bucks beat the Rayz 4-2 on 10/21 at the American Bank Center in the season opener for each team. The Rayz beat the Bucks 5-3 at the LEC on 10/31. Laredo beat the Rayz 3-2 on 12/03 with three third period goals. On 12/06 Laredo beat Corpus 2-1 in overtime on a goal by Jeff Bes at the LEC. On 12/22 the Bucks beat the Rayz 5-4 in overtime on a goal by Adam Rivet at the LEC. Kevin Reiter stopped 33 of 34 shots on 01/27 in a 2-1 victory for the Bucks at Corpus Christi. This is the seventh of 13 meetings this season. On 01/28 the Bucks blew a 4-1 lead with seven minutes to play and fell 5-4 in a shootout. The Rayz beat the Bucks 3-1 at the LEC on 02/11. The Bucks lost 6-1 to the Rayz at the LEC on 02/14.
2005-06 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo went 10-2-1 against Corpus in 05-06. The Bucks were 6-1-1 at the LEC and 4-1-0 in Corpus. Overall the Bucks outscored the Rayz 48-24.
All-time: The Bucks are 43-14-2 all-time against Corpus Christi, outscoring the Rayz 236-140. The Bucks are 24-6-1 at the LEC against Corpus.
- AUSTIN ICE BATS -
2006-07 REGULAR SEASON: Laredo is 6-1-1 against Austin. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 5-3 on 10/29 in Austin. Forward Jeff Genovy registered a hat trick. On 11/03 the Bucks beat the Ice Bats 6-5 in overtime on the road as Bobby Chaumont scored the game winning goal. The Ice Bats beat the Bucks 4-2 in Austin on 12/02 behind two goals from John McNabb. On 12/03 the Bucks rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at 3-3, before falling 4-3 in overtime to Austin at the LEC. The Bucks beat the Ice Bats 3-2 on 12/08 at the LEC. On 12/15 the Bucks beat Austin 5-1 as forwards Igor Agarunov and Jeff Bes scored a pair of goals each. On 01/05 Eric Marvin made 34 saves as he shutout Austin 3-0 at the LEC. Laredo beat Austin 3-1 on the road on 01/19.
2005-06: REGULAR SEASON: The Bucks were 7-1-0 against Austin in the 2005-06 season. Laredo was 4-0-0 at home and 3-1-0 on the road.
All-time: Laredo is 32-13-2 against the Ice Bats all-time. The Bucks have out scored the Ice Bats 165-117 over that stretch. Laredo is 12-10-0 all-time in Austin,
MAGIC NUMBER
- The Bucks need 10 more points to clinch a berth in the 2007 CHL Playoffs.
IRONMAN STREAK ENDS
- Bucks defenseman Paul Elliott did not play on Saturday and Sunday. That ended his franchise record string of 158 consecutive games played. Elliott's streak surpassed the old record of 124 straight by forward Jeff Bes.
THREE -IN-THREE
- The Bucks swept a three-in-three this past weekend, capturing all six available points.
FIRST WIN
- The Bucks beat Amarillo 3-1 on Sunday on the road. It was the first ever regular season win for Laredo in Amarillo in six tries. The Bucks are 4-1 in Amarillo in the playoffs.
OVERTIME MOJO
- The Bucks are 6-3 in sudden death this season after forward Leo Thomas scored 2:42 into sudden death on 02/17 at LUB. The Bucks have set a new franchise record for overtime wins in a season. The previous was five overtime wins, done in the 2003-04 season. Rookie forward Bobby Chaumont has two overtime winners, forward Jeff Bes, defenseman Adam Rivet and forward Chris Korchinski each have one sudden death winner.
POWER PLAY EXPLODES
- The Bucks went 2-6 on the power play at AMA on 02/18, 4-10 on 02/17 at LUB, and 2-10 on 02/16 vs. LUB. Laredo is eight for their last 26 (30.8 %) on the man advantage. The Bucks were 5 for their last 58 (8.6 %) prior to the power play upswing.
PENALTY KILL REPORT
- Laredo has stopped just 34 of the last 46 (73.9 %) opponent power play chances. The Bucks have allowed 12 power play goals against in the last six games. Laredo did go 8-8 on the penalty kill on 02/18 at AMA.

HAT TRICKS - Bucks forward Donnie Margettie had a hat trick in a 5-4 overtime win in LUB on 02/17. It was the third hat trick of the season for Laredo. Forward Jeff Genovy had three goals on 10/29 at AUS, then defenseman Adam Rivet had three goals on 12/10 vs. RGV.

- Laredo tied a season high with four power play goals on 02/17 at LUB. The Bucks also had four power play goals on 11/03 at AUS.
VERY BUSY SCHEDULE
- Laredo just finished a string of seven games in 10 days. The Bucks went 3-3-1, winning three straight after starting 0-3-1.

- 02/18/07 - SUNDAY - @ AMARILLO - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks beat the Amarillo Gorillas 3-1 on the road in front of 2,221 fans at the Cal Farley Coliseum on Sunday night. It was the Bucks first ever regular season win in Amarillo, although Laredo is 4-1 on Gorillas' ice in post-season play. The Bucks picked up their third straight win as they capped off a perfect three-in-three weekend powered by a pair of goals by forward Leo Thomas. The Bucks are 10-1-2 in their last 13 road games. Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 31-13-5 with 67 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by eight points with a game in hand in the Southeast Division race. Eric Marvin stopped 20 of 21 shots and got the victory to improve to 16-5-4. Shawn Conschafter allowed three goals on 28 shots and fell to 14-9-1. FINAL SCORE Laredo 3, Amarillo 0.

Forward Donnie Margettie had a hat trick and also set up the game winner in overtime. The Bucks are 9-1-2 in their last 12 road games. Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 30-13-5 with 65 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by six points with two games in hand in the Southeast Division race. Kevin Reiter stopped 24 of 28 shots in 62:42 for his second straight start and improved to 10-5-1. Kyle Stanton allowed five goals on 46 shots and fell to 6-12-3. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Lubbock 4 in sudden death.

Laredo goalie Kevin Reiter turned aside all 22 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season as the Bucks snapped a four game winless streak. Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 29-13-5 with 63 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by four points with three games in hand in the Southeast Division race. Kevin Reiter picked up his first shutout with the Bucks as he broke a four game losing streak and improved to 9-5-1. J.F. Perras allowed four goals on 43 shots and fell to 11-12-2. FINAL SCORE Laredo 4, Lubbock 0.

- Single game tickets for the Bucks start at $14.95. Of the 32 home games, 25 will take place on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Game times will remain the same for the 2006-07 season. Weekday games begin at 7 p.m., while Friday and Saturday night games are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday games will be at 4 p.m.
