
Lant Named Assistant Captain

WENATCHEE, Wash. - Defenseman Michael Lant (Suwanee, Ga.) has beennamed one of the Wenatchee Wild's assistant captains.
Lant, who will celebrate his 19thbirthday tomorrow, is plus-four in nine games with the Wild this season.
"We always wanted threeassistants," said Wild head coach JohnBecanic, "But we wanted to see if someone stepped up, and it was clear tothe coaches that Mike was that guy."
Lant is a high-character player,respected by his teammates, plays with passion and has already served theorganization and community in multiple endeavors with great maturity, Becanicsaid.
Before the season, Becanic named Blake Saylor (Centennial, Colo.) theteam's captain and Ben Carey(Centennial, Colo.) and Kyle Huson(Parker, Colo.) assistant captains.
Lant captained the Dallas StarsU-18 squad last season. He recorded 25 points (4G, 21A) in 40 games with theStars last season.
