Jamestown Jammers News Release
Jamestown Jammers representatives left their mark on the third annual New York-Penn League All-Star Game this week.
Torre Langley left the biggest impact, winning the annual NYPL home run derby which took place before the game kicked off. Langley put on a show for the fans in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., nailing 13 home runs in the two-round contest.
The Jammers catcher, tied with two teammates for the team lead in season lead in homers with six, trailed Hudson Valley's Mike McCormick after the first round after the Renegades slugger hit 10 home runs. Fellow Jammer All-Star Ryan Anetsberger also took part in the derby, hitting three home runs.
After the first round, it was down to Langley and McCormick to duel for the derby crown. McCormick had a power outage, however, while Langley kept nailing long balls to become the first Jammer to take home the derby crown.
Langley wasn't the only Jamestown player to star in the All-Star Game festivities. Reliever Garrett Parcell earned Pitcher of the Game honors after striking out two in a perfect seventh inning of work for the National League affiliate All-Stars in their 6-4 loss to the American League affiliates.
The 2007 12th round draft pick has shined out of the Jammers bullpen all season, posting a 2-1 record with three saves and a team low 1.75 ERA.
The Jammers return from their break for the All-Star Game festivities by taking on division rival Mahoning Valley Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
