February 23, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - Forward Chase Lang and defenseman Dylan Labbe have been reassigned to the Quad City Mallards by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild, the Mallards announced today.

Injuries have limited Lang, a 20-year old rookie, to a single game with Iowa this season. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound, Nanaimo, British Columbia, native broke into the professional ranks by scoring two goals and adding an assist in 11 games with the Wild late last season.

Lang, who was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the sixth round of the 2014 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the one hundred sixty-seventh overall choice, turned pro immediately after completing his final junior season last spring. Lang totaled 27 goals, 32 assists and 59 points in 69 Western Hockey League games with the Calgary Hitmen and Vancouver Giants last year. Lang, who spent three full seasons with Calgary before being traded to Vancouver in October of 2015, helped the Hitmen to a share of the WHL Central Division title in 2013-14 and sole possession of the division crown in 2014-15. He produced 66 goals and 89 assists for 155 points in 244 career major junior games.

Labbe, 21, returns to the Quad Cities after being recalled from the Mallards by Iowa on January 1. The 6-foot-2-inch, 195-pound St. Benjamin, Quebec, native has collected a pair of assists in 11 AHL games this season. Labbe scored three goals in 12 ECHL outings after originally being assigned to the Mallards by the Wild on November 22.

Labbe scored four goals and notched two assists in 54 games with Iowa as a rookie last year. Labbe got his first taste of pro hockey when he scored his first career goal and recorded a pair of assists in 11 games with the Wild in the spring of 2014. A year later he played three late-season AHL games without recording a point.

Labbe, who was selected by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft with the one hundred seventh overall choice, spent three full seasons and part of a fourth with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Shawinigan Cataractes before beginning his pro career. In 2014-15, Labbe finished tied for third among QMJHL defensemen in goals (15) and finished sixth among defensemen in points (51). He recorded 31 goals and 75 assists for 106 points in 193 career games with Shawinigan.

The Mallards return to action tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. against the Kalamazoo Wings on home ice. The first 1,000 fans through the doors for that game will receive free Mallards drink koozies courtesy of Local 4 News. Tomorrow evening is also another $2 Dog/$2 Beer Night presented by 97X.
