Omaha Lancers News Release
KEARNEY, NE - In the second of nine head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Omaha Lancers rode three point efforts from Jake Randolph and Tucker Poolman, and a 29 save performance from Omaha backstop Cole Bruns, to a 5-2 victory over the Tri-City Storm at Viaero Event Center in Kearney, Nebraska on Friday. With the win, the Lancers improved to 11-2-1 overall this season and with 23 points, remain alone atop the USHL's Western Conference standings.
After an up-and-down first period, the Lancers broke the ice late in the frame as Randolph wedged home his seventh goal of the season at 18:47 on slick feeds from Poolman and Tyler Vesel on the power-play. Omaha picked up right where they left off in the second, as Poolman slapped an extra-man one-timer past Tri-City goaltender Jacob Johansson at 1:12, the North Dakota recruit and Lancers captain's fourth goal this year, with Brendan Smith and Randolph picking up assists on the play.
Later in the period, Jake Henderson notched his first career USHL goal, a rock-solid redirect of a Poolman point shot at 6:55, to make it 3-0 Lancers with Randolph registering the secondary assist. Connor Light followed suit 48 seconds into the third with his first-ever USHL goal, assisted by Vesel, then after a pair of Tri-City scores, Tyler Hynes put the cherry on top for Omaha at 18:50 of the third, coasting his fifth goal of the season into an empty net at 18:50, as Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson and Luca Frigo earned assists on the marker.
Next up for the Lancers, it's a Saturday trip to the Lincoln IceBox to take on the Lincoln Stars at 7:05 pm. Full coverage of Saturday's game begins with the "Valpak Pregame Show" at 6:50 pm on the Lancers' flagship station, "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL with Lancers broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.
