Lancers Give Hastings Career Win 518

Barry Almeida and Chris Connolly each tallied three points on a goal and two assists each, and Drew Palmisano posted his second career shutout in the crease, helping the Lancers win their ninth straight game, 7-0 over the Stampede in Sioux Falls on Saturday, February 16th.
With the victory, the Lancers also gave coach Mike Hastings his 518th career coaching win, setting a new standard for USHL coaching success. Hastings moved past former Sioux City and Des Moines coach Bob Ferguson into first place among league coaching victories.
Seven different Lancers scored goals in the win. Nico Sacchetti scored the first goal and the eventual game-winning goal over four minutes into the first period. Sacchetti also assisted on the second goal of the contest scored by Dakota Eveland nearly ten minutes into the first period.
Eveland also assisted on a goal for a two-point night. Drew Conboy scored a goal and added an assist and Patrick Wiercioch chipped in with two assists of his own.
Travis Novak and Joe Diamond also scored red-lighters for Omaha in the shutout victory.
In the crease, Drew Palmisano stopped all 23 Sioux Falls shots for his second shutout of the season and of his USHL career.
The Lancers out shot the Stampede 32-23 for the game, including a 15-2 edge in the first period. Omaha was 1-for-3 on the power play, while stopping all five Sioux Falls power play chances.
Omaha remains 14 points in front of Sioux City at the top of the USHL West Division standings. The Lancers are also two points ahead of Indiana for first place in the overall league race.
Next up for the Lancers will be a make-up game with the Lincoln Stars in Lincoln on Tuesday, February 19th at 7 PM, a game postponed a couple of weeks ago due to poor weather conditions. Coverage of the game that night only will be on the B2 Networks, due to prior commitments for radio station KOTK. Lancer broadcaster Bob Bakken will bring the coverage on the B2 Networks shortly before the first faceoff at 7:05 PM.
