Omaha Lancers News Release
Following Fargo's 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders last night, the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) officially clinched the West Division regular season title and the number one seed in the division for the upcoming 2010 Clark Cup Playoffs. It's the fourth West Division regular season title for the Lancers in the last six seasons. Omaha (40-12-6, 86 Pts.) will now face either the Tri-City Storm or the Sioux City Musketeers in the opening round of the Clark Cup Playoffs and will have home ice advantage through at least the first two rounds of the postseason. Tri-City and Sioux City remain separated by just a single standings point for the fourth and final playoff spot in the West with just a pair of regular season games remaining this weekend. The Storm will host Des Moines on Friday and Sioux Falls on Saturday while the Musketeers welcome Waterloo and Lincoln to Sioux City this weekend. The Lancers meanwhile close out regular season action this Friday and Saturday with visits from Team USA and Des Moines. Omaha has been on a roll the last month and a half claiming standings points in each of its last 14 games overall posting an 11-0-3 record during that stretch. The Lancers have won four straight games heading into this weekend and have now collected 25 of a possible 28 standings points since February 14th. Omaha's final regular season weekend begins with a visit from Team USA's U17 squad. Team USA, comprised of both the U17 and U18 programs, has posted a 25-29-4 record in its first season as members of the USHL. Omaha's regular season finale then comes Saturday evening as the Des Moines Buccaneers invade the Omaha Civic Auditorium to close the 2009-2010 regular season. Des Moines (20-32-6, 46 Pts.) enters the final weekend of the USHL's regular season having dropped four of its last five games and nine of its last 12 overall. The Buccaneers do, however, feature the league's fifth leading scorer in T.J. Tynan who has posted 17 goals, 55 assists and 72 points this season.

LANCERS' POWER COMMITS TO UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS
The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that forward Troy Power has committed to the University of Massachusetts and will attend the school beginning in the fall of 2010. A second-year Lancer and third-year USHLer, Power has tallied 26 goals, 15 assists and 41 points in 55 games this season. He is currently sixth among all Lancers in scoring and is one of six Omaha skaters this season to have tallied at least 20 goals. In 159 career games in the USHL, the native of Camarillo, California has registered 36 goals, 33 assists and 69 points. Power joins recently committed goaltender Jeff Teglia who will both suit up for the Minutemen next season.
NEWS & NOTES FOR THE WEEKEND
In Friday's match-up with Team USA, Omaha will be looking for its fourth regular season series sweep of the 2009-2010 campaign. The Lancers have already swept the regular season series with the Youngstown Phantoms, Lincoln Stars and Sioux City Musketeers.
With 8 shorthanded goals this season, Lancers forward Matt White remains just one shorthanded goal shy of tying the USHL record for most shorthanded goals scored in a season set by Dubuque's Mark Mowers during the 1993-94 season.
With 40 wins already this season, Omaha has now won 30 or more games for the 18th consecutive year and has posted at least 40 victories for the sixth time in franchise history.
With 230 goals scored this season, the Lancers have registered the most goals as a team since the 1998-99 season. Meanwhile, with 608 team points, Omaha has tallied the most points as a team since the 1996-97 campaign.
Former Omaha Lancer Patrick Wiercioch signed a three-year contract last evening with the NHL's Ottawa Senators. Wiercioch suited up for 40 with the Lancers back in 2007-08 recording three goals and 21 points. The Burnaby, BC native was selected 42nd overall (Round 2) by Ottawa in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
