Omaha Lancers News Release

Cody Campbell turned aside all 28 shots he faced as the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders blanked the Omaha Lancers 2-0 Sunday evening in front of 2,666 fans at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. The first shutout loss of the season dropped Omaha's overall record to 25-8-2 but the Lancers remain atop the West Division standings with 52 total points.

Neither side was able to find the back of the net through the opening 20 minutes of play despite a combined 17 shots on goal. Omaha's Jeff Teglia turned aside all seven Cedar Rapids shots he faced in the first period, including a blue line breakaway by Cason Hohmann, while the RoughRiders' Cody Campbell denied all 10 Lancers' shots he saw in the opening frame.

Cedar Rapids broke the scoreless deadlock 8:14 into the middle period when Jeff Costello blasted home a snap shot from the slot for his 20th goal of the season. Eric Robinson and Zach Lehrke grabbed the two assists on the man advantage tally notched just nine seconds into the RoughRiders' first power play of the contest. Cedar Rapids doubled its lead just over nine minutes later when Nick Lappin won a race for a loose puck in lifting his 3rd goal of the season under the crossbar and past Teglia. Stu Wilson picked up the only assist on the even strength marker putting the RoughRiders in front 2-0 through 40 minutes of play.

Omaha had its opportunities in the final period to try and get on the board as the Lancers outshot the RoughRiders 12-6 in the third period but the goaltending of Campbell help strong in keeping Omaha off the scoreboard for the first time this season.

Campbell earned the victory in net for the RoughRiders improving his overall record to 9-5 on the year. The 28 saves also provided the first career USHL shutout for Campbell. Teglia suffered the loss in goal for Omaha despite 20 saves on 22 Cedar Rapids' shots. Omaha's goaltender is now 19-6-2 in 27 appearances this season.

The Lancers are back in action next Friday evening when they head back to the Ice Box in Lincoln to battle the Stars.
