Lancers Acquire Eric Olsson

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced the acquisition of Affiliate Goaltender, Eric Olsson and a 2024 9th round, phase II draft pick in exchange for the following draft picks:
2024 2nd Round, Phase II Pick
2025 3rd Round, Phase I Pick
2025 2nd Round, Phase II Pick (Conditional)
Olsson (2005), of Stockholm, Sweden comes to the Lancers after being one of three goaltenders, on the Fargo Force's 2023 Preseason Roster. The Swedish goalie made two appearances in the preseason stretch for the Force, with a total of 59:58 time on ice.
In game one, Olsson played the second half of a 6-3 victory over the Omaha Lancers, where he stopped 16 of 18 total shots on goal. The following day against the Tri-City Storm, he turned aside 12 out of 13 shots in this half of the game. Putting the 6-foot-4, 183 pound goaltender at a 2.98 goals-against average, with a 0.906 save percentage. Olsson has yet to make his official USHL regular season debut.
With the 2023-24 season being his first run in the USHL, it is also his first time playing in North America, as he has played in the Örebro HK Club back in Sweden for the past three years. And getting reps with the J18 and J20 teams as both a 16 and 17-year-old the past two seasons.
For the 2022-23 season, the rookie skated in 26 games with the Örebro HK J20 team, notching a 2.60 goals-against average and a 0.909 save percentage with three shutouts, after putting up stellar numbers with the J18 squad with a collective 2.09 goals-against average and 0.916 save percentage throughout regional and international play.
On top of his numbers, he aided Sweden's Junior International Team to both a J18 SM Gold Medal, along with a silver metal at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup this past year.
Olsson is expected to be a highly ranked goaltender at the NHL Draft in June of 2024.
His first game in an Omaha Lancers uniform will be against the Fargo Force on September 30th, 2023.
