Force Announce Trade with Omaha

Fargo Force News Release
The Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League have made a trade with the Omaha Lancers. Heading to Omaha is goaltender Eric Olsson and a 2024 Phase 2 - 9th round draft pick. In return, the Force receive 2 draft picks - a 2024 Phase 2- 2nd round pick and a 2025 Phase 1-3rd round pick. Fargo will also receive additional compensation from the Lancers should Olsson play in the USHL in the 24-25 season.
Olsson is a 6'4, 185 lb goaltender from Stockholm, Sweden whom the Force selected in the 2023 USHL Phase 2 draft. He saw action in 2 games and a scrimmage for the Force in the pre-season, and had a GAA of 3.00 with a .903 save %. Olsson has been listed highly on many early draft rankings ahead of next June's NHL draft.
With returning veteran goaltender Anton Castro (45 games played for Fargo in past 2 seasons) unexpectedly returning for an additional year of seasoning prior to heading to college, and rookie Hampton Slukynsky (last year's winner of the Frank Brimsek Award going to the top goalie in MN High School, and a 2023 - 4th rd draft pick by the NHL's LA Kings), the Force had a crowded house in the crease.
Olsson did not dress in last weekend's USHL showcase in Pittsburgh, as Castro (Wisconsin commit) and Slukynsky (Northern Michigan commit) both started in net and got the wins for the Force over Waterloo and Des Moines respectively.
"With 3 quality goalies, we had a tough decision to make in parting ways with Eric", said Fargo Force General Manager, Cary Eades. "However, the coaching staff and I are very confident in the abilities of Castro and Slukynsky, and feel they will provide us with the necessary strong goaltending that it takes to win consistently in the USHL. Goalies need game time to develop, and it appears Olsson will have a much better opportunity to showcase his talents with the Lancers, and prove himself to NCAA and NHL scouts. We wish him the best of luck in his hockey future."
The Fargo Force take on the Omaha Lancers in their 2023 Home Opener on Saturday, September 30th at 6:05pm. Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased at the Scheels Arena Box Office or over the phone at 701.364.3672.
