Syracuse Mets News Release
Allentown, PA--The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Syracuse Chiefs, are pleased to announce that Chase Lambin has been named the Most Valuable Player of Wednesday night's Triple-A All-Star game in Allentown, PA. Lambin finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI as the International League defeated the Pacific Coast League 2-1. Lambin was voted the MVP by members of the media who attended the game.
The IL trailed 1-0 entering the home half of the sixth. Chris Valaikia of Louisville doubled to lead the inning off. After Pawtucket's Bubba Bell struck out, Lambin blasted a double to right-center field to plate Valaika and deadlock the game. Then, Elliot Johnson of Durham fisted a single to left and Lambin scored the final run of the game.
Lambin, who turned 31 a week ago, started at third base and shifted to first in the sixth. He was involved in both run-scoring plays on the night for the IL in its seventh win in its last 13 tries against the PCL.
Lambin rejoins the Chiefs for their four-game homestand beginning Thursday at 7 PM against Pawtucket. Syracuse will face righty Clay Buchholz and Josh Beckett in consecutive days on Friday and Saturday.
Tickets are still available for the homestand by calling 315-474-7833, visiting the Chiefs' box office or by clicking on the team's website at www.syracusechiefs.com
