
Lamar Announced As The New Voice Of The JackHammers

JOLIET, IL - The Joliet JackHammers are pleased to welcome Jason Lamar to the broadcast booth as the new Director of Broadcasting. Lamar will serve as the lead play-by-play voice for the upcoming 2010 season.
"Jason is a key addition to the JackHammer staff," said JackHammers Executive Vice President and General Manager Jaime Toole. "We want to be more aggressive with our broadcasting efforts and feel like Jason is a key ingredient towards the creation of a JackHammer Sports Network to bring the JackHammer organization exposure throughout the region."
Lamar joins the JackHammers after spending last season as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the River City Rascals in the Frontier League. Prior to the Rascals, Lamar spent
the previous 18 months at ESPN Radio 1380 in the Rockford, Illinois area. Serving as the Sports Director his final six months, Lamar's duties included co-hosting a daily talk show, performing sportscenter updates, and handling various play-by-play responsibilities for the station. Lamar was also the lead announcer for the Beloit Snappers, the Minnesota Twins low "A" affiliate in the Midwest League.
"I'm excited for the honor to call JackHammer games this season and grateful to the front office, particularly Jaime Toole, for giving me this opportunity," commented Lamar. "After having spent last season with Chad (Parker) and Bryce (Florie) in River City, I know it will be an exciting year to call all the action for the fans and I can't wait for the season to start."
A Lebanon, Illinois native, Lamar graduated from nearby North Central College in Naperville in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast communication and marketing. In addition to earning several awards during college while station manager and sports director at the school's radio station , Lamar spent two summers with the DuPage Dragons in the Central Illinois Collegiate League (CICL) as a broadcaster.
Outside of baseball, Lamar's play-by-play experience includes calling NCAA Division III football and basketball contests, North Central College football, basketball and softball games and the Rock River Raptors of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL).
During the offseason, Lamar resides in the St. Louis area with his wife, Lauren.
LOOSE GRAVEL: The Joliet JackHammers open the 2010 season on May 21st against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in North Dakota. The Home Opener is Friday, May 28th at 7:10 p.m. against the Lake County Fielders, one of two Northern League expansion teams. Season tickets, group outings, and suites are available now.
