LAFC Beats Austin F.C. 2-0 for Second-Straight Road Win

The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) handed Austin F.C. a 2-0 defeat Wednesday night behind goals from Jose Cifuentes and Diego Rossi. It was the second-straight road win for the the Black & Gold, as they handed the expansion Austin team its first-ever home loss at Q2 Stadium.

LAFC took the lead in the 39th minute on a Cifuentes goal, when he fired in a rebound after Kim Moon-Hwan's initial shot from close range was blocked by Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver. It was the fourth goal of the season for Cifuentes, who leads the team in goals after scoring in back-to-back games.

Diego Rossi put the game out of reach in the 89th minute, scoring on a break-away to notch his fourth goal of 2021 and give the Black & Gold consecutive road wins for the first time since August, 2019.

LAFC goalkeeper Tomas Romero earned his third shutout in the last four games, making four saves and improving to 3-0-1 this season. LAFC returns to action on July 17 when they host FC Dallas at Banc of California Stadium.
