Lady Horizon finish 8-1, win EBA title

Harrisburg Lady Horizon News Release
The Harrisburg Lady Horizon only lost one game last year, but failed to win the WEBA title.
This year, despite dropping their season opener to New York, the Lady Horizon won their next eight games. It was enough to win this year's league championship.
Leading the way for Harrisburg were guards Hillary Waltman and Amy MacDonald, who led the team in scoring throughout the year. Waltman's best performance came against Schuylkill late in the season when she scored 25 points and helped Harrisburg to a 96-71 win. MacDonald was hot early in the season, when she also scored 25 points against Schuylkill en route to an 80-76 win.
Forward Sasha Leverentz got hot towards the end of the season to help Harrisburg win down the stretch. Leverentz finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds against Philadelphia and scored 27 points against Schuylkill.
Harrisburg relied on their fast break throughout the season. Once Harrisburg grabbed a defensive rebound, Amy MacDonald or guard Sofiyah Bashir would get the ball and heave it downcourt, often to Waltman. This would allow Harrisburg to jump out to early leads, which Coach Al Clocker would maintain by constantly substituting players in and out to keep them fresh.
The Lady Horizon were able to overcome the absence of center Carla Vicidomini, who suffered a season-ending leg injury halfway through the year. Sue Rosso, Christina Vouriotis, Ashley Hoffman, Kate Ulrich, and Tanya Brown all stepped up in various games to fill the void left by Vicidomini. April Longo was perhaps the most exciting player for the Horizon, often driving to the basket and beating multiple defenders for a score.
