Harrisburg Lady Horizon News Release
Harrisburg... At first, it looked as though United States Army Lady All-Star center Andrea Hinton was going to have a field day against the Harrisburg Lady Horizon last night.
She did, scoring a game-high 21 points. But behind a strong team effort, the Horizon took the lead midway through the first half and never looked back, winning 75-55 and improving their record to 2-1 for the season.
Every player for the Lady Horizon scored, with guards Hilary Waltman and Amy MacDonald leading the way with 10 points each. Forward Sasha Leveritz ended up with nine points.
Hinton started out hot, scoring her team's first 10 points. Then, Army coach Leroy Williams rested Hinton in favor of forward Danielle Cates, who hit two quick jump shots to put Army ahead by five points.
But Hinton was unable to regain her momentum after being subbed out. The Horizon came back to take the lead thanks to an 11-2 run midway through the first half. Forward Christina Vourioitis came off the bench with eight points to lead the team in the first half. The Horizon maintained the advantage for a 35-31 halftime lead.
Guard Amy MacDonald scored eight quick points early in the second half as the Horizon methodically extended their lead into double digits. Army was unable to get back in the game. Harrisburg led by as much as 25.
Hinton got herself into foul trouble, but managed to score nine second half points. Forward Evevetta Crawford chipped in with 11 points, but her jump shot was inconsistent and she never found her rhythm.
The Horizon will continue their season next Saturday when they host the Schuylkill Syrens.
