Lady Horizon continue winning streak

HARRISBURG- May 1, 2004Â… Forward Sasha Leverentz scored a game-high 27 points to help the Harrisburg Lady Horizon smash the Schuylkill Lady Syrens 96-71. It was the Lady HorizonÂ’s seventh consecutive win.

Harrisburg guard Hillary Waltman added 25 points and guard Morgan Banks led Schuylkill with 22 points. Banks went 9-10 from the foul line.

Harrisburg gained the momentum four minutes before halftime when guard Safiyyah Bashir plucked Aretha KnightÂ’s crossover dribble at half court and converted a layup to give Harrisburg a 41-31 lead. It was part of 20-6 run that gave Harrisburg a 17-point lead at halftime.

Schulykill failed to get any closer in the second half. Harrisburg led by as many as 26 late in the game.

Harrisburg has not lost since New York beat them 84-79 in the season opener on March 6. The Horizon will try for revenge next Saturday when they take on New York in their season finale.
