Toronto Rock News Release

If you've been to a lacrosse game of any genre in the Kitchener-Waterloo region, chances are you've seen or met Lynn Orth.

A Rock Season-Ticket Holder since day one, Orth has never missed a home game. And that's pretty impressive considering the busy lacrosse schedule she keeps.

Along with husband Al, Orth has been a majority owner of the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks Senior B box lacrosse team that competes in the Ontario Lacrosse Association's Senior B loop since 2003.

While she never played the sport, Lynn's accomplishments in Canada's national summer sprot are impressive.

Lynn's active involvement in the sport began when son Kelsey and daughter Caitlin enrolled to play in the Kitchener Waterloo Minor Lacrosse Association. After catching the lacrosse bug, Lynn founded the Kitchener-Waterloo Under-19 girls' field lacrosse program in 1994, and coached both the U-19 and senior women's teams in K-W.

She has served as the Executive Assistant for the Kitchener Waterloo Minor Lacrosse Association since 2002 and is a Life Member of the association.

Lynn was also recently named a Kitchener-Waterloo Sports Volunteer of the Year.

She was the general manager of the Canada's women's field lacrosse team from 2000-2005 participating in World Cups at High Wycombe in 2000 and in Annapolis last summer.

Along with Al, Lynn served on the 2005 President's Cup Committee as the Host with the Kodiaks Lacrosse Club.

Outstanding coaching success

At Wilfrid Laurier University, Lynn has become one of the most successful coaches in Ontario University Sports history. Beginning as an Assistant Coach in 1998, Lynn took over the Head Coaching role in 1999 as it became a varsity sport.

Under her guidance, the team has won an unprecedented four OUA Patterson Cup championships in six seasons, including the first three-peat in the league's history (2003-2005) which they accomplished in dramatic fashion with a thrilling 8-7 overtime win over the Queen's Golden Gaels this past October.

Lynn was named Laurier's Coach of the Year in 2003, and between 2003-2005 has complied a 28-1-1 record. She's 59-17-5 all-time as head coach at Laurier.

Her husband Al is actively involved in the Kitchener lacrosse community, while son Kelsey is a lawyer in KW who played minor and Junior in KW, major in Peterborough, was on the practice roster of Ottawa while attending Law School. Her daugher Caitlin is attending University of Windsor in the Masters of Human Kinetics Program and played minor lacrosse in K-W, Varsity field lacrosse at Laurier and Western between 2000-2004.

Both Kelsey and Caitlin have come back to help Lynn coach the Golden Hawks team. She says it is very special to her that her entire family has been present (in the stands and on the bench) at each of her team's championship performances.
