
"La Super Copa" Draw to be Held Saturday at RFK Stadium

Washington, D.C. (March 16, 2011) - D.C. United announced today the draw for the sixth edition of La Super Copa will be held Saturday, March 19 at the Corona Landing (Section 218) inside RFK Stadium at 6:00 p.m. ET. The draw will take place prior to D.C. United's first match of the season, as the club takes on the Columbus Crew at 7:30 p.m. in MLS First Kick 2011. La Super Copa, presented by Volkswagen, is sponsored by Verizon Wireless, State Farm, American Airlines, and D.C. Lottery.
The 16 local champions participating in La Super Copa are Aegean Hawks (Super Copa V Champions), Spartan F.C. (Monarch's Soccer Leauge), Juventud Surena (Copa Taca Champion), Atletico Virginia (Washington Premier League), Danish Dynamite (WISL), Municipal Limeno (Maryland International), British Tigers (Arlington Premier Soccer League), Palmeiras (Latin American League), La Chapin (Virginia International Soccer League), Maryland Bays (Maryland Major Soccer League), Espanyol (Springfield Soccer League), Le Coq (Sierra Leone Soccer League), Mar Azul (American Soccer League), Inter de Virginia (Manassas Universal League), FAS (Woodbridge International), and AV Challenge (NVSL).
The tournament will kick off with first round games on Saturday, April 2 and Saturday, April 9 at the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Field. The Super Copa Final will be held immediately following D.C. United's May 7 game against F.C. Dallas on the RFK Stadium field. Admission for all games, excluding the tournament championship, is free of charge.
All teams receive one MLS match ball and a full set of 20 new adidas team uniforms. There will be a cash prize of $5,000 for the Cup winner and $2,000 for the runner-up as well as team trophies and individual medals.
