NEW YORK (Wednesday, March 16, 2011) - Major League Soccer today announced discipline for two players involved in two separate incidents during preseason:
FC Dallas defender Jair Benitez has been suspended for one game - the club's first regular season match Saturday against Chicago - and fined Benitez $500 for his actions during a preseason match against the Houston Dynamo on Feb. 12. The Committee issued a two-game suspension to Benitez, for whom the MLS Players Union filed an appeal. MLS Commissioner Don Garber reduced the suspension to one game.
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has fined Real Salt Lake defender Jamison Olave $250 for public criticism via social media of a League official following a preseason game against Sporting Kansas City on March 8.
