
La Raza De Monterrey Is Ready For The MISL 2007-2008 Season

MONTERREY, MX (July 19, 2007) - In a spectacular ceremony, LA RAZA was introduced to the media in Monterrey this morning as the Major Indoor Soccer League officially announced the return of the Team to the MISL for the 2007-08 season. The team will play a 15-match home schedule at The Arena Monterrey, site of today's ceremony.
LA RAZA will join the Baltimore Blast, California Cougars, Chicago Storm, Detroit Ignition, Milwaukee Wave, New Jersey Ironmen, Orlando Sharks, and the Philadelphia KiXX in the 2007-08 MISL regular season.
The press event, in the presence of the MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan, as well as the General Manager of LA RAZA, Miguel Angel Garza and the Operational Director of Arena Monterrey, Ignacio Saenz, took place on the indoor soccer field of The Arena Monterrey and was framed with the participation of acrobats, the cheerleader group and a show of pyrotechnics and lights. The special of the day was an impressive video chronicling the history of LA RAZA.
In his brief remarks, Commissioner Ryan emphasized the significance of having LA RAZA back in the MISL beginning with the 2007-08 season, which is scheduled to commence in mid-October and conclude at the end of March.
Additionally, Miguel Angel Garza, General Manager of LA RAZA indicated that the return of the Major Indoor Soccer League to México strengthens the international footprint of the League, and that he is pleased to have the support of an expert organization in handling world-class events and operating a first-class facility for indoor soccer, the Arena Monterrey.
Erich Geyer, a well-known and decorated member of the indoor soccer community in the United States and in Mexico, was introduced as the head coach of LA RAZA and four-time MISL Defender of the Year Genoni Martinez was introduced as the first-ever player of LA RAZA for the 2007-2008 season.
Geyer announced that Team try-outs are scheduled for August in major cities in México such as Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City.
LA RAZA's home matches will be staged on Thursday's at 8:30 p.m. (CT) in the Arena Monterrey. Season Tickets and individual game tickets will be available for purchase in August.
ABOUT THE MISL
The Major Indoor Soccer League, a single-entity organization with a coast-to-coast presence, represents the major league of professional indoor soccer, featuring the finest indoor soccer players from 32 countries around the world. The nine MISL clubs competing in the 2007-08 season are the Baltimore Blast, California Cougars, Chicago Storm, 2007 championship finalist Detroit Ignition, Milwaukee Wave, and the defending MISL Champion Philadelphia KiXX, with the addition of three expansion clubs, Monterrey La Raza, New Jersey Ironmen, and the Orlando Sharks. The 2007-08 MISL regular season commences on the weekend of October 19-21, 2007 and concludes on the weekend of April 4-6, 2008.
