- The LA Galaxy defeated Club Tijuana on penalties Wednesday evening at Dignity Health Sports Park, advancing to the Semi-Final of the Leagues Cup.
- Next, the LA Galaxy will host Cruz Azul in August in the next round of the tournament.
- Cruz Azul advanced after defeating the Chicago Fire Tuesday night.
- Emmanuel Boateng scored Galaxy's first goal of the night, his second on the season.
- Boateng has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Galaxy this season.
- LA Galaxy II player Kai Koreniuk made his first senior appearance for the LA Galaxy.
- Kai Koreniuk recorded an assist in his first-ever appearance for the LA Galaxy.
- Efrain Alvarez recorded his third assist in all competitions for the Galaxy tonight.
- Midfielder Efrain Alvarez made his third start for the Galaxy in the month of July.
- Goalkeeper Matt Lampson made his second start of the season in goal, previously starting in the LA Galaxy's US Open Cup contest at Portland.
- Lampson made three penalty saves during the penalty shootout to give the Galaxy the victory.
- Next, the LA Galaxy travel to Providence Park in Portland for a match with the Portland Timbers at 7:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, July 27. The match will be broadcast on FS1.
