LA Galaxy Open 2014 Preseason Camp

CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy begin 2014 preseason training when the team reports to StubHub Center, today, Friday, Jan. 24. The Galaxy will hold its first media availability and open training session, which is open to members of the media, on University Field #1 at StubHub Center on Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 10:00 a.m. The LA Galaxy also announced its preseason match schedule as the team prepares for Opening Night against Real Salt Lake at StubHub Center on Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. PT and its CONCACAF Champions League clash against Club Tijuana at StubHub Center on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. PT.

Media availability will take place fieldside following training on select days. Media members wishing to attend training are asked to contact the Galaxy Communications Department prior to the session that you wish to attend. Please be advised that training sessions vary in length so be sure to arrive as close to the start of training as possible. Additionally, players and coaches are not required to speak with the media so please inform the Galaxy Communications staff of your interview requests.

LA GALAXY PRESEASON SCHEDULE

The LA Galaxy will play a series of preseason friendlies in addition to a number of closed-door scrimmages in the build-up to the 2014 campaign. Additional preseason fixtures will be announced at a later date.

Tuesday, Feb. 11: LA Galaxy at Pumas UNAM (closed-door scrimmage) - 11:00 a.m. - Mexico City, Mexico

Saturday, Feb. 15: LA Galaxy vs. San Jose Earthquakes - 7:00 p.m - Chukchansi Park (Fresno, Calif.)

Saturday, March 8:Home Opener - LA Galaxy vs. Real Salt Lake - 7:30 p.m. - StubHub Center

A LOOK AT THE GALAXY ROSTER

Of the 31 players that were on the Galaxy roster at the end of the 2013 MLS season, 23 are scheduled to return to the club for the 2014 campaign. The eight players that have left the club or were not offered new contracts are Colin Clark, Laurent Courtois, Carlo Cudicini, Sean Franklin, Hector Jimenez, Pablo Mastroeni, Michael Stephens, and Jose Villarreal. Franklin was selected by DC United in Stage 1 of the 2013 MLS Re-Entry Process, Jimenez was traded to the Columbus Crew, Mastroeni announced his retirement in December while Villarreal will spend the 2014 campaign on loan to Cruz Azul of Mexico's Liga MX.

Joining the Galaxy for the 2014 season are Brazilian forward Samuel, who signed on a year-long loan from Brazilian side Fluminense, Canadian target forward Rob Friend, who signed from German club TSV 1860 Munich and midfielder Baggio Hu�=A1idi=C4=87, who joins LA from Swedish Superettan side Hammarby. The trio of new signings will be joined by University of New Mexico defender Kyle Venter, who was drafted by the LA Galaxy with the fourth pick of second round of the MLS SuperDraft.
