LA Galaxy Forward Landon Donovan Voted MLS Player of the Week

NEW YORK (Tuesday, May 27, 2014) - LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 12 of the 2014 MLS season.

Donovan scored two goals and added one assist in the Galaxy's 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Union, while also claiming sole possession of MLS's career goal-scoring record with 136 goals scored.

Donovan assisted on the game's opening goal in the 2nd minute by sending in a perfectly placed free kick from distance to Galaxy defender Leonardo who was able to head it in from the center of the box .

In the 49th minute, Donovan fed the ball to teammate Robbie Keane on the right side of the box. Keane then slotted the ball across the goal past Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath to Donovan who easily finished it .

Donovan's second goal came in the 81's minute when he played the ball into Keane down the left flank. Keane played it right back to Donovan in the center of the box and the forward's left-footed shot beat MacMath to the bottom right corner.

The Galaxy take on the Chicago Fire Sunday, June 1 at 4 p.m. ET at Toyota Park.
