LA Galaxy News Release

BACK-TO-BACK MATCHES AGAINST THE RIVAL EARTHQUAKES ON THIS WEEK'S AGENDA: The Galaxy and the San Jose Earthquakes will renew their heated rivalry not once, but twice this week, with both games being played on the Quakes home turf at Spartan Stadium. The first meeting between the bitter rivals will be a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal affair and will be played on Wednesday, August 24 at 7:30 pm. Though the game will not be broadcast on radio on TV - fans will be able to follow all the action via the match tracker on www.MLSNET.com . Should the Galaxy defeat the Quakes in that match, they would host one of the two U.S. Open Cup semifinals at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills on Wednesday, September 14 at 8 pm (PT).

The second match, slated for Saturday, August 27, will be an important MLS Western Conference tussle as both teams begin to jockey for playoff positioning as the 2005 regular season enters the stretch run. The contest will get underway at 8 pm and will be televised LIVE to a national audience on ESPN2. Galaxy fans used to listening to their favorite team on the radio will have the chance to do that as well. The stations to tune in are KMPC 1540 am in English and KMXE 830 am in Spanish.

GALAXY POST IMPRESSIVE 3-2 WIN AGAINST D.C. UNITED AT RFK STADIUM: The RFK Stadium faithful took their opportunity Saturday night to take a jab at dismal road record of the Los Angeles Galaxy this season. But in the end, it was Landon Donovan and his teammates who had the last laugh, Donovan scoring twice in a 3-2 Galaxy victory as they ended their winless away run and put an end to D.C. United four-game winning streak. Twice the Galaxy took the lead -- the second time through some Donovan free kick magic -- and twice United responded, until Donovan's second immediately answered and gave L.A. the win.
