LOS ANGELES -- Defensive linemen Terrance Carter and Marcus Parker have signed free agent contracts with the Los Angeles Avengers, head coach Ed Hodgkiss announced today. Both players inked two-year deals that will keep them with the club through the 2008 season.

Carter (6-foot-4, 265 pounds) was a four-year letterman at Colorado State University (Fort Collins, Colo.). As a senior in 2005, he had 23 tackles (including four for losses of 21 yards), two quarterback sacks and a forced fumble. In his final three seasons with the Rams, Carter played in 29 games and finished with 48 tackles, 14 for losses and seven sacks.

Parker (6-2, 275) played in 47 games while attending the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, N.M.). He finished his Lobo career with 122 tackles, 35 for losses and 14.5 sacks. As a junior in 2004, Parker totaled 60 tackles and seven sacks on his way to earning first-team All-Mountain West Conference honors. Prior to his senior season at New Mexico, he was on the "watch list" for the Lombardi Award.

Carter and Parker will be among 37 players participating in the Avengers' three-day mini-camp that begins on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the Avenger Training Facility at West Los Angeles College in Culver City.

The Avengers will kick off their eighth season of play in the 21-year-old Arena Football League versus the San Jose SaberCats on Sunday, March 4, at STAPLES Center. That contest, which features the past two Western Division champions (Los Angeles in 2005 and San Jose in 2006), will kick off at 7 p.m.
