
Kurt Takahashi Signs to Manage

The Mavericks Independent Baseball League announced that Kurt Takahashi, a pitcher for the 1997 inaugural season Salem-Keizer Volcanoes will be taking over the managerial duties for the Campesinos de Salem-Keizer.
Kurt Takahashi grew up in the Central Valley of California and has been involved in baseball for as long as he can remember. He played for Monache High School in Porterville, CA and was drafted in 1995 while at Fresno City College playing under Coach Ron Scott by the San Francisco Giants in the 19th round. Takahashi spent a total of 8 years in professional baseball starting his career with the Bellingham Giants in 1995-96 before becoming a member of the Single A San Francisco Giants' Salem-Keizer Volcanoes for their inaugural season in 1997 at the newly constructed Volcanoes Stadium.
From 1999-2002, Takahashi finished up his playing career in the Western Baseball League as a Sonoma County Crusher where he twice earned All-Star recognition while playing under former Major League Baseball greats Dick Dietz, Kevin Mitchell, and Jeffrey Leonard whom all were All-Star players during their distinguished MLB careers.
Most recently Coach Tak could be found building up a Division IV high school baseball program in Sacramento, California. From 2016-2023, Coach Tak established Bradshaw Christian High School as a winning program. He found his niche coaching as he achieved the following: Overall record 127-58, League record 74-20. Nor Cal State Championship 2021-22, Section Championship 2021-22, 3 time Section Runner Up, 3 time Coach of the Year and California's Coach of the Year for small schools.
"I'm really looking forward to taking the next step in my coaching career by accepting this position with the Campesinos and the Mavericks League," said Takahashi. "Especially excited to return as a Manager to Volcanoes Stadium where I have many fond memories of the Stadium and the fans of the Salem-Keizer community".
