Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, N.J. - Former Riversharks pitcher Ryan Kulik has signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies with an invitation to spring training. The Marlton product has reported to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Kulik was selected in the eighth round of the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals after playing for Rowan University. In 2010 he peaked with Triple-A Memphis, posting a 5.31 ERA in 39 innings. He missed most of 2011 and all of 2012 recovering from an elbow injury. In 2013, his only year with the Riversharks, Kulik went 2-11 with a 5.83 ERA in 24 appearances, including 20 starts. He struck out 83 batters in 108.0 innings.
"We could not be happier for Ryan that he is back in a major league system," said Riversharks President and General Manager Adam Lorber. "We are proud of what he accomplished here while playing at home and we are excited to see what he will do next."
Kulik's agreement represents the third signing of a 2013 Rivershark by a major league organization this offseason. RHP Jon Velasquez signed with the Minnesota Twins before being drafted by the New York Mets in the minor league portion of the Rule V Draft and OF Burt Reynolds inked a minor-league deal with the Seattle Mariners.
