August 9, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
FULLERTON, Calif. (August 9, 2010) The Orange County Flyers are adding drive-time DJ Ted Stryker from KROQ 106.7 FM to the roster for a doubleheader on Saturday, August 14, against the Tijuana Cimarrones. Stryker, who is KROQ's number one drive-time DJ from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays, will appear in one of the games of Saturdays doubleheader, marking his professional baseball debut.
Stryker, 39, has been a mainstay of Los Angeles afternoon radio with KROQ as well as with KAMP-FM 97.1 AMP Radio. He has served as the on-stage DJ for The Ellen DeGeneres Show from 2007-2008, and has also acted in several films including Grandmas Boy, Out Cold, and The Sweetest Thing. Stryker co-hosted the nationally syndicated radio show Loveline with Dr. Drew Pinsky from 2006-2009.
The widely-known radio personality almost didnt become a DJ. As a kid, he excelled in baseball and had serious dreams of going pro.
"I was pretty good", said Stryker. "I had the skill, thats for sure. I even played a game in Dodger Stadium for the Los Angeles City Finals for Palisades High." But playing ball professionally wasn't in the cards for him. Now Stryker will get his chance, putting on a professional uniform and taking the field as a member of the Orange County Flyers, who are currently in a tight battle for a South Division playoff spot in the independent Golden Baseball League. "This really is one of the coolest things I have ever been able to do, I am so excited and get wait to get out on that field."
Stryker won a Flyers roster spot at a 2006 celebrity tryout, and his efforts from that afternoon are now being rewarded. He is expected to wear No. 7 for Orange County.
The Orange County Flyers are off until August 11 when the team kicks off a five-game series against the Tijuana Cimarrones over three days in Yuma at the Ray Kroc Sports Complex. The teams will play doubleheaders on August 11 and 13 with a single game on August 12. The Flyers return home on Saturday, August 14 for a doubleheader beginning at 5:05pm. Tickets are available by calling the team office at (714) 526-8326 or online at www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.

The games against Tijuana will be on Field 2 of the Sports Complex with admission free to any who wish to attend.
