
Kristie Mewis Named to U.S. Women's National Team Roster for Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Houston Dash midfielder Kristie Mewis was named to the U.S. Women's National Team 18-player roster by head coach Vlatko Andonovski, U.S. Soccer announced today. Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell will also join the USWNT as an alternate replacement player.
The U.S. Women's National Team is set to travel to Tokyo, Japan in July for this summer's Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Mewis returned to the national team last November, earning her first call-up in seven years and finished with a goal against the Netherlands on Nov. 27. The Dash midfielder extended her scoring streak in the first USWNT friendly of this year against Colombia on Jan. 18. and scored against Argentina in the She Believes Cup on Feb. 25. Most recently, the 30-year-old started in one of two appearances with the USWNT during the 2021 Summer Series at BBVA Stadium and Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. Mewis has scored four goals and tallied three assists in 24 appearances with the senior team.
In 2020, Mewis signed a multi-year contract with the Dash that is set to go through the 2023 season and scored three goals and tallied three assists for Houston. This year, the Boston native has earned seven starts in seven appearances, scoring three goals and tallying two assists.
Campbell has earned five caps with the U.S. Women's National Team, including a clean sheet in the team's 6-0 victory over Argentina to capture the 2021 SheBelieves Cup trophy. It was the Dash goalkeeper's second clean sheet with the national team, both of which have come this year. The goalkeeper made her senior international debut at BBVA Stadium in Houston during a 5-1 USWNT victory over Russia in April 2017.
