LOUISVILLE, KY - January 8, 2010 -The Louisville Lightning dominated a young Ohio Vortex squad by an 18-4 margin on Friday night. The Lightning improve to 5-2 on the season with the victory.
Midfielder Safet Kovacevic led Louisville with 5 goals and 2 assists, while keeper Frank Peabody paced the Lightning defense with 9 saves. Striker Simon Bird added another 3 goals and midfielder John Michael Hayden was among four Louisville players with 2 goals each. Hayden, formerly with the MLS Houston Dynamo, has clearly added another dimension to his hometown club.
Ohio's keeper, John Brubach, was bombarded with 44 shots from the Louisville attack. The Vortex would score the first goal of the match, but were unable to hold back the Lightning offense from that point on.
