Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets completed week 23 of the 2005-06 season riding a 3-game winning streak and holding second place in the Western Division with a 37-24-4 record for 78 points.
Last week the Komets were 3-1-0 in 4 games played over a span of 5 nights. The week started in Motor City Wednesday where the Mechanics clipped the Komets 2-1. Friday the Komets rebounded with a 2-1 shootout victory at Missouri. Saturday the Komets upended the IceHogs at Rockford 6-0 before returning home to stop the visiting Missouri River Otters in another shootout win, 3-2.
At the start of week 24, the Komets (65gp, 78pts) are virtually in a 5-way race for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th playoff positions with Adirondack (64gp, 83pts), Motor City (68gp, 80pts), Quad City (67gp, 74pts) and Richmond (65gp, 70pts). While the Komets have 11 games remaining, Adirondack has 12 games, Motor City has 8 games, Quad City has 9 games and Richmond has 11 games to go.
This week the Komets will again play 4 games in 5 nights, including 3 home games Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
