St. Cloud Norsemen News Release
St. Cloud is proud to announce that Kole Mears has signed a tender to play for the Norsemen. Mears a 6'3" 195 lb forward played his High School hockey at Elk River culminating in a section championship and a trip to the Minnesota High School State Tournament. Mears, a senior captain, led the team in scoring with 42 points 23G 19A. After high school, Mears played for a year in the NCDC for the Utah Outliers before joining the Niverville Nighthawks in the MJHL last season. Mears finished the regular season with 38 points in 53 games and then put up 12 points in 13 playoff games helping the Nighthawks to a Centennial Cup Championship.
Quote coach Joe Exter - "We're excited that Kole will be joining our team. He impacts each shift with his speed and physical play. Last season Kole played a major role in leading his team to a National Championship in Canada. This experience along with his character and relentless work ethic will have a major impact on our team."
Mears can't wait to join the Norsemen. He's a power forward who relishes using his physicality on the forecheck and has the skill to put up points. "I'm excited to tender with the Norsemen and play in the NAHL which should be a tighter checking league. I'm looking forward to playing closer to home as well."
