Knutson, Duchesne, and Petersen Earn Weekly USHL Honors

Chicago, IL - The United States Hockey League today announced the CCM and Reebok player awards for the 11th week of the 2013-14 USHL regular season.

Winners include Zeb Knutson of the Sioux Falls Stampede, named CCM Forward of the Week; Chad Duchesne of the Sioux Falls Stampede, chosen as CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Cal Petersen of the Waterloo Black Hawks, earning Reebok Goaltender of the Week.

Zeb Knutson, F, Sioux Falls Stampede: It was a career week for the Sioux Falls, South Dakota native as he registered eight points (5g, 3a) to lead the Stampede to three victories. On Wednesday, the 19-year-old tallied his League-leading eighth power play goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner, in a 3-0 victory over the Lincoln Stars. He then assisted on all three of team's goals in Friday's 3-0 win against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. The Minnesota State University, Mankato commit saved the best for last as he exploded for four goals and an assist on Saturday during a 10-4 win over Team USA. It was his second four-goal game of the season, becoming the first USHL player in the Tier 1 era (2002-present) to have multiple four-goal games. Knutson is currently riding a seven-game point streak, 16 points (7g, 9a) over that span. He is currently fourth in USHL scoring with 28 points (17g, 11a) in 18 games played and his 17 goals are the second most in the League.

Chad Duchesne, D, Sioux Falls Stampede: The 18-year-old helped the Stampede to a trio of wins, recording three points (1g, 2a) and a plus-four rating during the holiday week. He led a defensive unit that gave up just four goals over the three victories, including a pair of shutouts. On Wednesday night, he lit the lamp for the fourth time this season in a 3-0 win over Lincoln. Despite being held off the scoresheet on Friday, he helped shutdown all five of Dubuque's power plays in a 3-0 victory. The native of Inverary, Ontario rounded out his week by dishing out a pair of assists, and tying a game-high with a plus-three rating, in Saturday's 10-4 win over Team USA. The Northeastern University commit is currently third in scoring among all USHL defensemen with 14 points (4g, 10a) in 22 games this season. It is the second time in a span of three weeks he has earned the award.

Cal Petersen, G, Waterloo Black Hawks: Committed to the University of Notre Dame, Petersen picked up three wins in a span of 72 hours, including his first shutout of the season. In Waterloo's annual Thanksgiving game on Thursday, the 19-year-old stopped 29 shots in a 3-2 win over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. He came back with a 21-save performance on Friday to take down the Riders, 3-0, earning his fourth career shutout with the Hawks. The Waterloo, Iowa native rounded out the week by stopping 30 shots in a 3-2 win over the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday to record the 35th victory of his USHL career. A 2013 NHL Draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres, Petersen is tied for the lead among USHL goaltenders with 11 victories, and both his 2.44 goals-against-average and .920 save percentage rank fifth in the League.
