Knoxville Icebears: Word from the Den - President's Cup Finals

Fayetteville, NC - It took 15:23 of extra time to determine the winner of game three of the best of seven President's Cup Championship to reveal the victor. Knoxville's Chris Rebernik scored on a pass from Kevin Swider to seal the game. Ice Bears goalie Kirk Irving who out dueled Guy St. Vincent for his second win of the finals by turning away 36 of 38 shots in front of a crowd of 2,113 at the Crown Center in Fayetteville.

Ryan Moore started the scoring off by rifling a slap shot past St. Vincent for his first of the post season. Moore's goal was the only tally of the first period that saw Knoxville out shoot Fayetteville 12 - 4.

The Fire Antz countered at 7:47 of the second period on an ugly goal by Mike Ruberto. Knoxville‘s Frank Furdero put the Ice Bears ahead 1:47 seconds later when St. Vincent was unable to locate the puck in the crease and Furdero poked it into the back of the net. Scoring in the second period was completed when Emory Olauson scored the only power play marker at 16:36 of the period. The third period was a tight checking affair which the Ice Bears outshot Fayetteville 8-6.

With the contest unresolved after 60 minutes of play both teams were ramped up for a run and gun overtime. Fayetteville outshot the Ice Bears 10 - 7 in 15:53 of play.
