Charlotte Knights News Release

YOU COULD WIN $10,000 FOR GOING TO A BALLGAME

The Charlotte Knights have launched the biggest contest in the history of the team. We have launched the $10,000 Grand Slam Challenge. Here's how it works: you buy a mini-plan based on the dates you want to attend a Knights game and if the Knights win on all the dates you selected you win your share of $10,000. It's that simple. These special partial season ticket plans are on sale now and are only available in limited quantitiy.

First Look at a Familiar Face

On Tuesday, February 15th at the Knights first ever "First Pitch Luncheon", Knights fans and local media got their first look for a second time at coach Nick Leyva. Leyva returns to the Knights after managing the club in 2000 and 2001, during which time he led the Knights to a record of 145-142 (.505). After leaving the Knights, Leyva spent the next two and a half years as a roving infield instructor for the Chicago White Sox. Last season he replaced Ken Dominquez as manager of the Winston-Salem Warthogs and led Winston-Salem to the second half Southern Division title with a record of 45-25 (.643).

Dragons to Invade Fort Mill

The Charlotte Knights are pleased to announce they will be holding open tryouts in order to fill the position of Homer the Dragon, the Knights colorful mascot. Tryouts will be held at Knights Stadium on Saturday, March 5th and will begin promptly at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Each participant will be judged based on their performance of the chicken dance, a rendition of the seventh inning stretch, an original sketch and fan interaction.

Judging will be done by a select panel of Dragon Watchers. We encourage everyone who wants to participate to join us, however the only restrictions are that all participants must be over the age of 18 and must be ready to have a fun afternoon at Knights Stadium. We will stop accepting entrants at 4 p.m. however those in line before the 4 o'clock cutoff will be allowed to tryout.
