
Knights In Action Twice This Week at Home

The Battle Creek Knights professional basketball team play at home twice this week at Kellogg Arena. One game on Friday, June 24th, vs. the Grand Rapids Flight, tip off time 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, June 25th, vs. the Des Moines Heat, tip off time 7 p.m. The Knights are 18-0 entering the 12th week of the International Basketball League schedule. The Knights have clinched a spot in the championship game to be on held on July 9th at the location of the top regular season team record in the IBL. Battle Creek needs at least one win in their last two games of the season to clinch home court advantage for the inaugural IBL championship game. The Knights current scoring leader is Mike Williams (WMU). Mike is averaging 22 points per game and is tied for 10th overall among IBL scoring leaders through games of 6/20.
The Knights are home at Kellogg Arena on Friday night vs. the Grand Rapids Flight. The Grand Rapids Flight are led in scoring by Darmatrius Kilgore (Purdue University) with a 19.1 points per game average and James Singleton (St. Bonaventure) with a 17.4 points per game average. Currently, Grand Rapids is 12-5. Friday, June 24th, game is Olivet Community Night and Kellogg Company Snack Night. The Knights will honor the Olivet High School boy's varsity basketball team state championship from this past spring during the evening. This contest between the Flight and Knights will be taped to be shown on Accessvision at a later determined date and time.
The Knights last regular season home game is Saturday, vs. the West division, first place, Des Moines Heat, tip off time 7 p.m. The Heat are led in scoring by Terrence McGee with a 26.5 points per game average and Merrill Andrews with a 22.6 points per game average. Currently, Des Moines is 10-2. Saturday, June 25th, is All Faith Night and Homer Community Night. The Knights will honor the national winning streak record, Homer High School boy's varsity baseball team, during the contest. Special discounted general admission tickets are available for area churches and their members by calling the Knights team office. At Saturday's contest, hot dogs will be 50 cents each and soft drinks available for only $1.00.
