Battle Creek Knights Sign First 3 Players For 2010 Campaign

Battle Creek, Michigan- The Battle Creek Knights, who previously played in the IBL from 2005 through 2008, return in 2010. The franchise is proud to announce their first three signings for the 2010 season, each of whom bring solid basketball resumes to the team.

Team Background: The Battle Creek Knights were the first champions of the International Basketball League in 2005 and finished that season with a perfect overall 21-0 record. That year saw the Knights average large attendances, including 1,854 to the championship game. The Knights went on to make the IBL playoffs each year from 2006 through 2008. They return in 2010 with Terrance Dickens at the helm, who has coached two previous IBL teams to the championship game. The team will play their games at Kellogg Arena, as they have in previous seasons. Coach Dickens on these new signings- "I'm very excited with the type of talent we have coming in for our 2010 season. With players of this caliber, we should be able to compete for the 2010 IBL Championship."

About new Center Brandon Hassell: A 6'11" center from Farmersville, Ohio. Started in 25 games his junior year at Penn State averaging 20.9 minutes per game. He led the team shooting 60.3 percent from the floor, while averaging 5.6 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game. Hassell played in the 2005 Big Ten Foreign Tour team during the summer averaging 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while playing in all five games for the Big Ten team in Spain. He owns the Valley View High School record for points in a game with 40.

About new Forward Everett Spencer: A 6'6" small forward from Columbus, Ohio. He started his college career at Division 1 Wright State of the Horizon League. His freshman year he played in 30 games averaging 25.3 minutes per game, while shooting a respectable 43.8 percent from the field. He then transferred to Division 1 South Carolina State of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) where he averaged 24.1 minutes per game. He averaged 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds during his time with the Bulldogs.

About new Forward Jeff Willis: A 6'9" power forward with overseas experience, Willis is a graduate of Barry University where he played from 2005-2008 and lead his team to two conference championships and an NCAA berth. He played professionally in Portugal during the 08-09 season, leading his team to the playoffs and was named an all-star for the league. He has also played professionally in Turkey, and has had workouts with scouts from both the LA Lakers and Miami Heat of the NBA.
