Knights Host the New Look Macomb County Mustangs on Friday, Oakland Slammers Saturday

The Battle Creek Knights professional basketball team host a pair of International Basketball League teams this upcoming weekend at Kellogg Arena. The Knight's first opponent will be on Friday the 13th vs. the Macomb County Mustangs, tip off time 7:30 p.m.. Battle Creek's second opponent during the weekend set will be the Oakland, California, Slammers on Saturday, May 14th, tip off time 7 p.m.. The Battle Creek Knights are 9-0 entering the sixth week of the IBL schedule. The Knights current scoring leader is Mike Williams (WMU). Other Battle Creek Knights players averaging in double digit scoring presently is Jamal Goodings (Knoxville), Bobby Madison (WMU), Milo Stovall (Valparaiso University), Eugene Seals (Miami of Ohio), Kenyon Murray (Iowa), and Ben Reed (WMU).

The first team to play the Knights this weekend on Friday, May 13th, is the upgraded Macomb County Mustangs. The Macomb County Mustangs announced this week the signings of two new players who should be in uniform to play on Friday night vs. the Knights. Those players are Willie Simms and Napoleon Petteway. Willie Simms (Wisconsin) spent 12 seasons in the Continental Basketball League. Willie is the all time leading scorer in CBA basketball history. Napoleon Petteway (Missouri) has a wealth of overseas basketball experience. In three different countries, Napoleon averaged over 27 points per game. Currently, Macomb County is 0-8 on the season.

The Knights second opponent this upcoming weekend is the Oakland, California, Slammers on Saturday, May 14th. Oakland will play in Battle Creek the third night of a four game road trip. The Oakland Slammers is led in scoring by Solomon Wilkins (Humboldt State University). At present, Oakland is 1-5 on the season.

Battle Creek Knights will be hosting school spirit nights for the games against Macomb County and Oakland sponsored by the Battle Creek Enquirer. Tickets are available for both games this weekend, by calling the Kellogg Arena box office, across from Full Blast, at 269-965-3308.
