The Battle Creek Knights professional basketball team head on the road this week for only one game, Thursday, May 26th, vs. the Detroit Pros, tip off time 7:30 p.m. Battle Creek Knights are 13-0 entering the eighth week of the International Basketball League schedule. The Knights current scoring leader is Mike Williams (WMU). Other Battle Creek Knights players averaging in double digit scoring presently is Jamal Gooding (Knoxville), Bobby Madison (WMU), Milo Stovall (Valparaiso University), Eugene Seals (Miami of Ohio), Ben Reed (WMU), and Kenyon Murray (Iowa).
The Knights only opponent this holiday weekend is the Detroit Pros on Thursday, May 26th. The Detroit Pros are led in scoring by Aaron Bates with 23 points per game average and Mike Manciel with 21.4 points per game average. Aaron is the 9th overall and Mike is the 17th overall scoring leaders in the International Basketball League. Currently, Detroit is 5-7 on the season.
The Knights players, coaches, and mascot, have or are going to be out in the Southwest Michigan area doing community events such as: the Calhoun Christian School fundraiser that took place on May 23rd featuring a pie in the face celebrity contest, speaking to students with the Battle Creek Public School alternative education program on May 24th, and signing autographs on Wednesday, June 1st, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Popeyes, on East Columbia Avenue, to raise funds for the Washington Heights Community Ministries youth programs.
The Battle Creek Knights return home on Saturday, June 4th vs. the Macomb County Mustangs. Tickets are available for the game on June 4th (Sellout Saturday) vs. Macomb County, tip off time 7 p.m., by calling the Kellogg Arena box office, across from Full Blast, at 269-965-3308, or the Knights team offices at 269-965-5001.
